BlogWorld Expo 2011

I recently attended the BlogWorld Expo 2011 here in Los Angeles, California. Although I only attended with a exhibit hall pass all the networking events in the evenings were quite fun. What more could you ask for? Free beer and smart people who understand what you are talking about. It is a win win situation!

Occupy Wall Street

I've been following the Occupy Wall Street movement from day one. The ironic thing is while following this movement I went from viewing it on a computer at the company I worked for to viewing it from home and coffee shops. Lets just say the items that those individuals are protesting for are the same items that have effected me for the second time in my life.

Lately I've been focusing on my own projects. During these times it is important to build a nest egg and my just so happens to be a virtual nest egg. One that I can tap into at any given time and turn into a revenue stream. I don't want to say that I am building a small empire but at this moment it is the only word that I can think of.

To follow up on a few of the more recent activities I have been involved in feel free to visit my personal blog. Jason Thompson

Its' Friday

It's friday and I am finishing a few things up here at work. I am very happy that one of my main projects is finally coming together.

DataCenterDirectory.com

Fortunately I have a company helping me wire frame, design, code and implement the entire site. This is one of the first hands off projects that I have ever done. All I provided was my user requirements and they went from there. So far the wireframes for the site have been completed and we are now on the design phase.

They have submitted two great designs so far and I can't wait to see the modifications of the logo completed. Things are moving and this is allowing me to concentrate on other projects since I have a team helping me build this one. :)

A couple of product domains

I've always liked product based domain names because they are straight and to the point. If you are looking for a specific product it would be ideal to simply enter it into the browser and add .com at the end of it. That would be ideal, but most of those names are taken so I have settled for the next best thing .orgs!

I own blushes.org, curlers.org and hairgels.org! I own a couple of other product based domain names but these are the ones I am going to talk about for now. I registered these names because I have a portion of my domain portfolio called Women's Hair & Beauty Products.

Another .org domain name I am proud of is sweatsuit.org but I haven't created a site for it yet. I might create one for it soon but we shall see. I acquired a few domains / sites a little while ago and I will be working on those tonight. I'll definitely consider buying more product based domains in the near future, but at the moment I rather build out what I currently own. :)

What Am I Currently Working On?

Currently I am working on developing a website or as some would call it a minisite for each domain name I own in my portfolio. I am a firm believer in developing sites, rather than just parking a domain name. The ultimate goal is to give the major search engines a little food to index you. There is no secret to it, the more original content you have the better chance you will have of being indexed.

Two of the domains I have been working on this week are SolarLaptop.net and WebDocumentManagement.com both of these domain names were registered quite some time ago, but I am just now getting around to working on them. Sometimes it happens this way, especially when you have a full time job. I make an effort these days to try and work on the smaller sites myself. It makes no sense to outsource a minisite as the costs tend to add up. I am only concerned about recouping my domain registration fee and the overall hosting fee everything else in my eyes, since I enjoy doing this in my spare time is an added bonus.

The domain SolarLaptop.net was registered on a drop in February 2010. The name has a great deal of potential since the market for solar laptop chargers is growing. In the near feature solar laptops will also make it to the overall computer market here in the US on a main stream basis. There are already a few companies working on prototypes for such a computer.

WebDocumentManagement.com was also registered on a drop in February 2010. I felt that this name had a great deal of potential as well because it pretty much encapsulates an entire market which is currently exploding here in the United States. What market might that be? Web Document Management is that market and companies like evernote and box.net are paving new landscapes in this department. These days you don't have piles of clutter around your house, you can simply buy a scanner and utilize a web document management service to organize everything digitally.

Well there you have it, both sites are up and running so my next step is to make sure to fully monetize the sites using affiliate programs and the adsense program. In addition to this I will be working on 3 other domain names this weekend! As always its important to keep moving forward, my goal is to develop at least 50 - 100 domain names by the end of this year. I am pretty sure I can achieve that goal!

It Begins

This blog is not being written for the intended purpose of having readers, it is being written more so as a personal journal for the obstacles that I am currently facing as a Los Angeles based entrepreneur. My Blue Print for success is my own personal belief system which I have come up with through all of the trials and tribulations I have faced as an entrepreneur.

On any given day I will write about how I am feeling or a project I am currently working on. I am in no way shape or form providing advice. Everything I write is for myself, I feel blogs are a great way of keeping track of projects and they tend to help me keep my thoughts organized.

Welcome to my blog and hopefully my experiences can help you make better decisions for yourself by simply glancing over it from time to time.
